D-Leipzig Development of Lindenau harbor
A key project theme is an explicit commitment to the landscape – to the qualities of the natural setting within and adjacent to the site. Water and landscape are the locale–defining anchor utilizations of this urban development along Lindenauer Hafen (Lindenauer Harbor); and construction is concentrated along the north side of the canal and the harbor basin, with its optimal southwestern water exposure. The sloping side – its dislocations, incisions, and topographies related to the safeguarding of the historic train – will be developed as an extensively designed park landscape.
We perceive our essential task to reside not in drafting a final vision, but instead in furnishing models capable of designing and guiding the process of transformation. Instead of fixing a final planning shape for constructive development, we highlight a variety of options which can be combined in ways dependent upon demand, local needs, and the current economic situation.
