D-Frankfurt am Main Masterplan Gateway Gardens
Gateway Gardens as a part of Frankfurt Airport City is a special location that impresses due to its attractive zoning mix as well as the excellent connecting links to the region and the entire world. Seen from an urban and architectural point of view, the design of this special place poses a chance and a challenge at the same time.

First and foremost, the master plan defines urban spaces for the 35 hectare sized area. It proposes subdivision varieties for the 20 construction zones, which are up to 100 by 300 meters in size. Exemplary architectural suggestions illustrate the manifold design possibilities and the resulting high spatial quality in the area. The idea is to create architectural attractive quarters in Gateway Gardens, which ensure a sustainable urban quality and form a diverse and lively district due to the independent characteristics.

Based on the master plan, concrete guidelines were determined for urban development and architecture. As for the architecture, declarations were made in relation to the facade structures, color scheme and materials which allow for a harmonious appearance and a versatile overall picture. In addition, it defines space boundaries, façade lengths and high points on an urban level.

At the same time, main zonings have been defined, which aim to shape the character of the quarters beyond the architecture. Two urban plazas, connected by a 2.2 hectare-sized central park, form the central urban axis. This is where urban functions are concentrated offering gastronomy and local supplies. These are followed by flexibly structured quarters, which create perfect conditions for an ideal working atmosphere.
