D-Hannover Masterplan Medical University
Masterplan MHH 20XX describes the future development of the Medical University, Hanover (MMH). It seeks to highlight potential and define quality. In addition to important functional aspects for hospital, teaching and research facilities, the plan contains specific provision for spatial development. In addition it also proposes how the MHH links with its surroundings. The quarter demands a better presence in the cityscape and measures to allow it to improve its position on the international stage.

The masterplan connects these aspects in an overall picture of the future development of the MHH. Nevertheless, it is as flexible as possible and as detailed as necessary to be able to react to long-term and unforeseen changes, while remaining capable of delivering the required quality over its lifetime.

The original MMH was designed to fit on a green field site, which has subsequently been enveloped by the growth of the city. For this reason, it must continue to interact with and react to the neighbouring quarters and land uses and should become an integral part of the surrounding city. This means that in the future it will be more prominently perceived as a hospital on the Karl-Wiechert-Allee, with its main administration offices in a series of services buildings along the same street. The new entrance building stands openly in front of the main hospital and is visible from both main directions of approach. The plan allows for further hospital and research buildings in the future along Stadtfelddamm to create additional value and a clear link to the medical park.
