FR-Strasbourg Exhibition „Interférences“
"Interférences. Architecture. Allemagne – France, 1800-2000", a wide-ranging exhibition of architecture, art and history, provides an unprecedented overview of architectural and urban interaction between France and Germany from the aftermath of the French Revolution and the Napoleonic era to the present day. It offers a new way of looking at Franco-German history through architecture and urbanism.
Particular attention has also been paid to the 'mirror relations' between large cities like Paris and Hamburg. In this context, the development of Hamburg's HafenCity is part of the exhibition.
The HafenCity project, the largest in Europe in recent times, was initiated in 1999 following a competition which was won by the team of ASTOC, Kees Christiaanse and Hamburgplan. HafenCity is being developed from west to east and from north to south. The area currently under construction, including any completed sections, now extends 1.1 km in length, from the Elbphilharmonie Concert Hall at the tip of Dalmannkai in the west to the Spiegel group building at Ericusspitze. In breadth, HafenCity begins at the Speicherstadt and runs down to the banks of the Elbe.
The exhibition has been organized jointly with the Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt, which will be hosting it from 28 September 2013 to 13 January 2014.
